CBD

CBD is an herbal nutritional supplement derived from cannabis. Legal in all 50 states and 40 countries, it has all of the therapeutic benefits of cannabis but none of the high. Even a full spectrum CBD has a relatively miniscule amount of therapeutic THC, so users can’t get high. CBD is available in a wide variety of formulations, in the form of pills and oils.

CBD vocabulary

CBD pill: The CBD is encapsulated within a variety of pill containers, some of which are vegan or gluten-free.

CBD oil: The CBD is suspended in various kinds of oils such as coconut oil and hemp oil. They have different flavors but mostly the same consistency, and coconut oil is generally the mildest flavor.

Cannabinoids: There are many cannabinoids naturally occurring in cannabis, including the psychoactive THC.

Full spectrum: This is made from the entire cannabis plant, and thus contains the full spectrum of all cannabinoids. This includes the flower, which contains most of the cannabinoids and especially THC.

Many people prefer CBD over normal cannabis. Most cannabis isn’t very therapeutic. Most cannabis has been bred to be high in THC and low in CBD, so users say they get high but without some of the major therapeutic benefit provided by CBD. Those with anxiety issues may find their symptoms increased by cannabis due to intense sensations from the high THC content, whereas CBD alone may relieve them. Even the strongest full spectrum CBD has a relatively miniscule amount of THC.

CBD is available with or without THC, in quantities up to the federal legal maximum of 0.3%. Though the user can’t get high, that maximum amount of 0.3% THC can possibly yield a false positive on a workplace drug test.
